Benefitra publishes guides, articles and calculators about employee benefits, health plan funding and workers' compensation. This page explains how we research and source that content, how we check it, who reviews it, how we use AI tools, and how to ask for a correction.
Who we are and who reviews our content
Benefitra is an independent employee benefits brokerage for employers. Sam Newland, CFP, a licensed insurance producer, is the founder of Benefitra and the reviewer for our insurance and benefits content. His profile is on the Sam Newland page.
Pages that carry a "Reviewed by" or "Reviewer" line name Sam Newland as the reviewer. Where a page shows a "Last updated" or "Last reviewed" date, that is the date of the most recent change or review.
How we research and source content
- We rely on primary sources wherever they exist: federal agencies (IRS, Department of Labor, CMS, HHS), state insurance departments and workers' compensation agencies, statutes and regulations on official government sites, and official rating organizations.
- We name the source next to the claim or in a source list on the page, and we give effective dates for rates, limits and thresholds.
- We do not cite marketing pages, forums or unattributed statistics as the basis for a factual claim.
- If we cannot find an official source for a state-specific or numeric claim, we leave the claim out rather than guess.
How we check facts
- Every number, date, deadline and legal reference is checked against its source before a page is published or changed.
- Rules that change every year (contribution limits, affordability percentages, rate filings) are re-checked when the new figures are published.
- Calculators state their assumptions. Where a calculator uses an illustrative figure instead of a published rate, the page says so.
- We do not publish fabricated reviews, testimonials, case results, credentials or license numbers.
How we use AI tools
We use AI tools to help with research, outlines, first drafts and code for some pages and calculators. AI output is treated as a draft: a person edits it, checks every factual claim against a source under the standards above, and is responsible for what we publish. We do not let AI tools invent sources, quotes, statistics or client stories.
What our content is and is not
Our content is general information to help employers understand their options. It is not legal, tax or financial advice for your situation, and it is not an offer of coverage. Plan availability, rules and prices vary by state and by carrier. Confirm details with a licensed professional before you make a decision.
Corrections
If you think something on our site is wrong or out of date, email [email protected] with the page address and what you believe is incorrect, plus a source if you have one. We review every request. When we correct a factual error, we update the page and its "Last updated" date.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our process changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last reviewed.
